Cannon Beach, Oregon is approximately 35 miles south of Astoria and the mouth of the Columbia River in the northwest corner of the state. It's most famous landmark is Haystack Rock, a gigantic boulder in the shape of the traditional haystack from which it gets its name. Haystack Rock lies at the edge of the ocean and is easily visible for miles around. The Cannon Beach area offers some of the most stunning scenic views of the entire Oregon coast. A popular and wonderful hotel in the community is the Cannon Beach Hotel, which commissioned this portfolio last summer. All images were manipulated using a combination of Adobe Photoshop filters to create what we call a "Digital Wash," which enhances the image in an often unexpected and delightful manner reminiscent of the watercolorists wash. |
